Dear Panther Families,

I am writing to make you aware of an incident that happened in our school this afternoon.

Shortly before dismissal time, staff could smell smoke near the mechanical room. It was discovered that a belt had overheated, causing smoke to enter into the hallway.

To ensure the safety of everyone in our building, we evacuated students and staff from the building. Once evacuated, students were dismissed to go home.

The fire department responded to the school and has made sure that things are safe for students and staff to return.  Repairs are now underway on the impacted belt in our mechanical room and air purifiers are in place in the school to clean the air.

The safety of our students and staff is always our first priority. I am proud of the way our students listened to and followed instructions during our evacuation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Paula Bender,

Principal
