Update on Upcoming Test Session at PHS (Grade 11 and 12 Students)
In the fall of 2021, the Ministry of Education announced that schools would be resuming the Grade 10 Literacy Test Requirement for all non-graduating students during the 2021-22 school year. As a result, all students in Grade 10, 11 and 12 who are not graduating this year will have an opportunity to take the test.
Grade 11 and 12 students will have an early opportunity to attempt the test on November 24th and 25th during their period C classes. Please note that the test has changed from previous years. It is now done completely online, through chromebooks, during regular classroom time, with the students’ classroom teacher. Most of the changes to the new pilot test have been made to reduce the stress, anxiety, and “high stakes” nature of the previous test.
Students who are not successful in this early attempt will have the opportunity to write again in the Spring, as well as the fall of next year if desired. Grade 10 students will write in the spring as per practice in previous years.
