Dear Preston Families,

While students and teachers continue to complete work for their semester one classes, we want you to know the following important information about the start of second semester two:

PD Day – Thursday, February 1st

Just a reminder that Thursday, February 1st is a PD Day. Students are not to attend school on this day.

Start of Semester Two – Friday, February 2nd.

Semester Two classes begin on Friday, February 2nd and we will follow a regular Week 2 Schedule on this day. Both the School Year Calendar and the Daily Schedule are linked here for your reference.

When students arrive on Friday, they will find their homeroom on lists posted on the windows of the main office and also in the Crush. Homeroom teachers will provide students with updated semester two timetables.

Students Graduating or not Returning for Semester 2

Any student who is graduating or not returning to the WRDSB for semester 2, needs to be aware that their Google Accounts will be deactivated on Friday February 2nd. You will need to return your Chromebook to the main office and can backup any files or emails from your google account by following these instructions here. The recommendation is to use Google takeout to assist students in this process. Graduating students are encouraged to continue to check our website for information regarding the graduation ceremony on Thursday June 13th, 2024.

Welcoming a New Principal on February 20th

After more than five years of serving the Preston community as Principal, Ms. Bender will be moving to a new school as Principal. We wish her well as she transitions to a new school.

Mr. Shawn Weatherdon will be joining the Preston High School staff as our Principal. Mr. Weatherdon is currently the Vice Principal at Eastwood Collegiate and brings with him a great deal of teaching and administrator experience. We are looking forward to welcoming Mr. Weatherdon on February 20th!

Over the next few weeks, Ms. Bender and Mr. Weatherdon will be working together to ensure a smooth transition.
