In the past few weeks, we have witnessed our community coming together as our region responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) remains committed to ensuring that our students, staff, families and community members have access to the resources and supplies they need during this time.
Staff are taking inventory of medical supplies available in our schools. We are working closely with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services to ensure our donations are sent to areas that need them most.
Our schools may be closed, but our community partnerships are not. Nutrition for Learning is delivering healthy snacks each day at various school locations throughout the region. Food4Kids Waterloo Region has committed to keeping food on the tables of our families who may not be able to at this time. Our collective goal is to ensure that no one goes hungry. Mental health and well-being services at Carizon and KW Counselling are available to our students and families who need access. United Way Waterloo Region Communities continues to provide support to partner agencies and individuals and has established a Community Response Fund to support frontline organizations. Together we are working to ensure those most vulnerable have access to the supports they need.
We will continue our commitment to our community, as we support and meet the needs of our students, families, and staff. If you are able, we encourage you to give back and support frontline workers and organizations as they work tirelessly to provide to those who are most in need. Giving back can mean many things; it can be a monetary donation, volunteering, helping your neighbours, or posting thank you messages in your windows to show gratitude.
We are here for our community and will do our part. We know you will too.
